Purpose
The Forestry CDE gives students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of forest ecology, tree identification, forest health, and sustainable forest management, and to explore skills and careers in the forestry and forest products industries.
What students do: Each student takes a general knowledge exam and an identification practicum covering trees, forestry equipment, tree disorders, and forest products. Teams of four complete a general knowledge practicum that includes timber volume estimation, map reading, and a management case study.
