Purpose

Floriculture is a discipline of horticulture concerned with growing and marketing flowers and ornamental plants and using them in floral arrangement and design. The Floriculture CDE is designed to create an interest in careers within the floriculture industry through education, investigation, and hands-on technical skill development.

What students do: Each student identifies floriculture plants, equipment, and supplies, completes a short practicum, and takes a general knowledge exam. Teams of four complete a floral design challenge on the year's theme. The 2027 theme is Intimate Wedding: a nosegay bouquet, a wrist corsage, and two boutonnieres.
